"Happy 2018 Jefferson School"
The New Year means new starts and new beginnings for all, with that being said, I think it is important that we continue to push our students to stay committed to their goals and resolutions. In the classroom, almost every student has made a commitment to some type of goal, whether it is in regards to their own academic success or vowing to make a positive change. While we as adults understand that our New Year’s Resolutions quickly end in expensive gym memberships, it is important that we stress to our students to stay goal oriented and take accountability for their actions.
In order for students to achieve at their highest level, your involvement is crucial. Defining expectations, holding students’ accountable, promoting self-esteem and keeping our children safe takes constant reinforcement on both our part and yours. Explain to your children that nothing less than their best efforts are acceptable and encourage your child’s involvement in school activities. Most importantly, model your expectations.
Teach them time management by establishing a regular time and place to do their homework and study. Turn off the TV, computer and other distractions. Discuss the importance of reading books and how mathematics plays a part in your daily life.
Our renewed commitments are the greatest part of embarking on a new year especially when those commitments are made to our future generation.
As always, please feel free to contact us at any time. No matter what size question or concern you have about your child, if it is important to you, it is important to us.
Very Truly Yours,
Joseph A. Vastola, Ed.S
