Principal's Message

Robert Giangeruso

As I begin my 7th year as a Principal in the Lyndhurst Public School System, I embark on another educationally, fun filled year school year.  This year as principal of Columbus, Community and Lighthouse, I am looking forward to all the exciting programs and events that will take place for my students each day.  The Pre-K 3-Grade 2 students will enjoy their teachers, their school, and make lifelong friends.  Together between Columbus, Community and the Lighthouse staff and parents, we will make this a supportive and productive learning experience for your children to learn and become successful students.

This year our combined efforts of school and community projects will occur in all three buildings along with our shared PTA of Jefferson School as we have done over the past years is the Appalachian Project.  This community based project allows our students to help others and learn how important helping feed the hungry and providing items for shelter are for our "more needy neighbors."  The 8th graders from Jefferson School serve our Senior Citizens a Thanksgiving meal at the Senior Center and our Columbus/Community students will be asked to bring a donation of a canned good item or two so that these can be cooked for that evening.  Our Columbus/Community/Jefferson PTA has also graciously offered to lend some assistance for these events.

Communication between school and home is a very important aspect for the Columbus/Community/Lighthouse School faculty.  We will take many steps to enhance communication between school and home.  This will take place in several ways so that we provide information to and from the families we serve.

-Communications will be sent home via e-mail/e-mail blast/Twitter.

-Paper copies brought home by students.

-Reverse 911 for school closings, emergencies, etc.

It is my goal to create a positive environment  where the students, staff and parents will have a wonderful experience at Columbus School.   I look forward to continuing to build a strong relationship with each one of you.  Please remember my policy--if you have any questions that need to be answered, do not hesitate to call the office (201-896-2074) or send an e-mail to my email address:
