Welcome to my page! My name is Angela Iannitelli and I have been a member of the Lyndhurst Child Study Team for the past 13 years. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have a Certification in School Social Work. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Kean University and a Master of Social Work, with a concentration in Children and Families, from Fordham University.
As a Social Worker on the Child Study Team, my primary responsibility is to complete a bio-psychosocial assessment. In doing so, I interview parents, students, teachers and any school personel who is involved with the student. In addition, I may contact and collaborate with outside agencies working with the student, as to appropriately assess and determine the needs of the individual student I am working with. The evaluation process can be overwhelming to understand. I always attempt to provide support and guidance to the parents by helping them understand the evaluation process, addressing their concerns and answering their questions as needed. Parents are constantly reminded that they are an integral and important part of the 'Team'.
In addition to being an active member of the Child Study Team, I am also a case manager to a number of students within the district. As their case manager, my primary goal is to develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), which details the academic needs and program of the student. I work closely with parents and teachers to assure that the student receives the supports/accommodations they may need to achieve academic success. In the past, depending on the needs of my students, I have also provided individual counseling, in addition to facilitating social skills groups.
I presently work with students from preschool (age three) through 8th grade. I have been assigned as the Child Study Team liason to Roosevelt School. As the liason, I am an active participant of the I&RS Committee (Intervention and Referral Services) . This committee is designed to review, discuss and recommend supports to students who may be having difficulties (academic or behavioral) during the school day. By definition, I&RS supports the teachers and students by developing an intervention plan that may provide alternative strategies, programs, and/or assessments. The interventions are designed to support the student in achieving success within the regular education program.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions! I am looking forward to another successful school year!
