Principal's Message

Michael Rizzo

"Learning is not attained by chance,

it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence."  - Abigail Adams

As we enter the Fall Season, I am excited for all members of the Memorial Campus Community and all of the possibilities that lie ahead of us for the 2018-19 school year.

Students should be keeping up on their math skills and reading books every night. Be sure to get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and come to school ready to learn.

While I am sure there are some nerves for our incoming third graders, having to attend a new school this year, I want all of you to know the third grade experience that your child will have this year will be an amazing one.  The Memorial staff is excited to meet all of our new students and eager to get started on what will truly be an amazing journey.

Always remember that my educational philosophy is that every student deserves to have a challenging yet enjoyable educational experience. However, I also believe that a student will get out of their education whatever they decide to put into their education. The Memorial Campus Staff and I will work hard to instill our district philosophy - “Renewing Our Schools and Community with a Dedication to Excellence and a Unity of Purpose.”

Personal/Professional Background Information

I have been a Lyndhurst resident for most of my life and attended Jefferson School and Lyndhurst HS. I live with my wife Christine and my three sons (Michael, Joseph, and Nicholas). I am a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a degree in Business-Marketing. My Masters is from St. Peter’s College in Administration/Supervision.

After my first year of teaching at Roosevelt School, I spent seven years at Lincoln School as the 7th & 8th Grade Math teacher while holding other positions, such as 8th Grade Advisor, Yearbook Advisor and High School coach. During the 2012-13 school year, I was a teacher at Jefferson School. This year will be my sixth year as Principal of Lincoln School and third year as Principal of Memorial Campus.
