Our Programs

In-Class Resource Program:  In this model, a general education teacher and a special education teacher are present in the class at the same time to support the students.  The general education and special education teachers work together to deliver the instruction, in a co-teaching model. The special education teacher has the primary responsibility for assuring that all students’ needs are met, assigns students’ grades in consultation with the general education teacher,  and is responsible for managing everything related to the special education students.  Specific accommodations and modifications are provided to students that are outlined in their IEP.

Pull-out Replacement:  These classes are taught by special education teachers and include only special education students.  The teacher has the primary responsibility for assuring that all students’ needs are met and is responsible for managing everything related to the special education students.   The instruction is a modified version of the grade level curriculum, often using supplemental resources to ensure instruction is skill-level and age appropriate.  Instruction is individualized for students based on the goals, objectives, and instructional needs outlined in the student’s IEP.

Self-Contained Learning and/or Language Disabilities (LLD) Program: The program is designed for students with learning and or language-based learning disabilities who require a separate program to maximize learning. The program is highly structured to provide intensive and individualized instruction based on the need of the students.  Students in this program are mainstreamed into the general education setting for specials such as: Art, Music, and Physical Education to promote and enhance socialization skills through peer interaction. Students in a LLD setting may also receive pull out replacement instruction in either Language Arts or Mathematics or both subject areas depending on the need of each student. Students in this placement may also receive related services such as: Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy as mandated by their Individualized Education Program.

Self-Contained Multiple Disabilities (MD) Program: This program is designed for special education students who may benefit from a highly structured small group instructional setting. In this setting, students will receive small group, whole group or individualized instruction in all subject areas. Students in this program are mainstreamed into the general education setting for specials such as: Art, Music, and Physical Education to promote and enhance socialization skills through peer interaction. Students in this setting may also receive pull out replacement instruction in either Language Arts or Mathematics or both subject areas depending on the need of each student.  They may also receive related services such as: Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy as mandated by their Individualized Education Program.
